Default GvG Builds: IWAY, MM, etc. What builds do you know of?

Hi all,

I'm trying to compile a list of all the known GvG build types. Below are some examples. Please feel free to contribute any you know;

- Mixed 2 monk
- Ranger Spike
- Ele Spike
- Gale Warrior
- Heavy Nec / Mez degen

I know there are a bunch more =)

Thanks all for your help.

Isaac

I am not sure what you are trying to achieved. If you are trying to label some of the builds out there, you will likely produce as much confusion.
What does a Gale Warrior mean? If I have 2 of them and do hexing with 2 mesmer what is that?
What is a mixed 2 monk build anyway?

Just watch some GvG battles. its the best way to learn how to recognize builds and potential tactics.

I would so love to meet an EoE bomb or Minion factory in GvG

Almost impossible to categorise in such specific terms GvG builds. Two main types I guess, Spike, for very quick killing, and pressure, for a slower painful death. Most pressure builds have an element of spike in them to finish off weakened targets

Some spike builds might include:

Obsidian spike
Blood Spike
Ranger Spike
Rainbow Spike
Air spike
etc etc

Some pressure builds might include:

Hex Heavy
E-Denial
Conditions
So called "Korean Style" Warrior ganking
etc
etc

but there are as many builds as there are party and skillbar combinations

Yes, I think it would be easier to classify them by type of damage, rather than skills. You could have a high DPS build which might be warrior-centric, or a degen build, with hexes and conditions, or a straight pressure, which might have an element of energy denial, or a spike, or a burst, or a combination of any of them.

Split Squad is another common build type.

We played a minion factory build in gvg when ladder was locked.

They spiked our MMs and then ran away, minions killed our whole team, but it was fun

instead of whole minion factory why not just use a tainted minion master? He could also have ward of melee or something and the build would be alot more flexible. Minions are really the best way to exploit corpses in gvg as the maps are far to big and fighting to spread to use putrid and well of profane.

Problem is that one guy with Putrid Explosion and a decent sense of timing can blow most any attempt at animating. Especially when Factions hits and fixed-positional fighting becomes even more crucial than it is now. Easy to spot when people are dropping then, and denying an MM corpses effectively shuts out most of his usefulness.
